PPPO’s CPM Bureau Rep

Dr Gabrielle Vivian-Smith is Australia’s Chief Plant Protection Officer (ACPPO) and Australia’s delegate at the International Plant Protection Convention’s (IPPC) Commission for Phytosanitary Measures (CPM), the Pacific Plant Protection Organization (PPPO) and the Asia Pacific Plant protection Commission (APPPC). The work of the ACPPO division aims to protect Australia's plant-based industries and the natural environment from harmful exotic plant pests and diseases. This is done through coordination within and between government agencies and industry. Apart from being the South-West Pacific representative to the CPM Bureau, Gabrielle is also a member of the Focus Group for the safe provision of food and other humanitarian aid.
