Enhancing domestic food production is key to addressing food and nutrition security in the Pacific. Seed security is vital for food security as it provides the base for sustainable agricultural production that leads to resilient farming systems and healthy communities. The Pacific Seeds for Life (PS4L) initiative works with countries to develop sustainable seed systems that support Pacific farmers through strengthening seed networks to enable effective distribution and utilisation of resilient and high nutritional crop varieties. PS4L supports resilient and healthy food production systems and strengthens the Pacific’s agricultural capacity through mechanisms and policy environments.

The PS4L initiative will also serve as an avenue for interventions that can drive livelihood improvements and capitalise on the organised farmer systems to expand seed systems and influence national level policies and practices that increase food production.
