Jalesi Mateboto is the current LRD Natural Resources Management Advisor and acting Head of the Sustainable Forests and Landscapes Management work area. A forester by training, his current role is to provide strategic advice, analysis and direction to LRD and member countries and territories on a range of issues relating to forestry and landscapes management, including issues concerning policy, management and development, land use, environment and conservation, research and development, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Jalesi has been serving the region as a staff member for the past 20 years. Prior to joining SPC he worked for Fiji’s Forestry Department for six years, three years in the private sector in the logging and sawmilling industries and three years with a regional NGO working on community forestry.
