This will be achieved through the following objectives.

  • Build diagnostic and strategic planning capacity for IPDM, including biological control.
  • Develop and implement biological control strategies for invasive and emergent pests in selected crops and cropping systems.
  • Extend IPDM and insecticide resistance management strategies to additional cropping and production systems.
  • Build surveillance and diagnostic capacity for the management of the emerging pest the Fall Armyworm in Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Islands.

The Integrated Crop Management initiative will collaborate with Fiji, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Tonga to build diagnostic and strategic planning capacity for integrated pest and disease management, develop and implement biological control strategies for invasive and emergent pests and extend integrated pest and disease management and insecticide resistance management strategies to additional cropping systems.
