Pacific Heads of Agriculture and Forestry Meeting 2021

The 7th Regional Meeting of the Pacific Heads of Agriculture and Forestry Services will bring together country leaders and partners to reconnect to the region. The meeting happens biennially, with last year’s postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosted by the Fiji Government and organised by the SPC Land Resources Division and FAO,  the meeting will revitalise engagement with key partners and deliberate on important issues for the  agriculture and forestry sectors. The event will also provide an opportunity for member countries to become part of the conversation and provide guidance to the Land Resources Division in regard to its goals and work priorities for the following two years.

This year’s meeting will cover Pacific agriculture and forestry and regional architecture, agriculture and forestry strategy and a regional research agenda for the coming years.  Updates and plans for major related LRD programmes and databases will also be covered, including CePaCT, the Pacific Soils Portal, Pacific Data Hub, Digital Earth Pacific,  Pacific Plant Protection Organization (PPPO), Pacific Health, Pacific Heads of Veterinary and Animal Production Services (PHOVAPS) and POETCom.

The Agriculture and Forestry Heads meeting occurs during the Pacific Week of Agriculture, which also includes an FAO organised Pacific Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry Services meeting.
